A new hire got a promotion over me. I'm lost as to what to do I've been with this company for over a year now. I even helped the department manager run our department while we were short staffed. A couple months ago we got someone new. I trained her on how things run alongside my manager. Even with all that, she still makes plenty of mistakes, sometimes even daily. I get no one is perfect, I make mistakes too; but the amount she makes is astronomical.

The assistant manager position opens up, and I decided I want to go for it. The new hire does as well. After a month of "testing and training" for the both of us, she ends up getting it. The store managers reasoning? "She has past experience and you don't" my life and this company

overwatchsquirrel · 6 hr. ago Your leader has decided that they cannot run the area without you and you are more valuable not being the assistant. Time to start looking for a new position outside where you currently work.

SuckerForNoir Robots 6 hr. ago ^ This. OP, find a new job that appreciates your work ethic and compensates you accordingly. And in the meantime do not go above and beyond for any reason, since your job has made it clear you won't get anything for it.

slightlysadpeach · 5 hr. ago Start looking around. My former job basically let other workers work less than me and take vacations while I slaved away. After they refused to even out our hours, I quit and took a year off. Don't have loyalty to anyone who treats you poorly. EVER. Both in relationships and career.

shipshape_chaos 5 hr. ago . edited 2 hr. ago I can tell you from a more corporate/office perspective. Years ago, I got hired as a senior data analyst in a team of 6. A few months later, the position of head of department opens up. I and the only other senior go for it. He was in the company for 4 years. I got the job. We had basically the same qualifications. The reason I was chosen was really simple. He was indispensable on his position since he knew every single process and detail of the job/b

Outside_Rent 7636 · 6 hr. ago What a joke. How are you expected to get experience then? They just wasted your time Ramen-Goddess OP 3 hr. ago I was nominated employee of the month 8 months into this company and would always receive little coupons to use in the store. Funny thing is is that they say that EOTM nominees nearly have a 100% chance of getting promoted...

Pladohs_Ghost 6 hr. ago Well, time to look for a position elsewhere. Let your manager know you got the message that they don't want you on their crew, so you'll be moving along as soon as you can. [Edit:] And stop doing extra. Certainly don't train anybody.

■Ramen-Goddess OP 3 hr. ago • I've been petty and telling the store managers "I'm just a clerk, I don't have the knowledge or experience to know this" if they ask me something related to managing the department

Superb_Sloth. 5 hr. ago This happened to me, except the new hire was hired for a position below me and I found out she was being paid more than me. I simply quietly began my job search and quit. She was later fired because her work was sub-standard. Ramen-Goddess OP 3 hr. ago I feel bad for saying this but I feel my coworkers work is sub-standard too. I work in a bakery and make food. She has a tendency to underbake a lot of things. One of the store managers even ate one of her undercooked/raw c

tc_cad I hate when that happens. It's happened to me before and it really soured my time there. Then they fired me.
